SpectatorAlmost there ? This thread has four names :- Ewart / Wes / Jenny /Angela. I can join myself as I only did a stopgap thing in early 2022.
Additionally, I recollect Richard H responded on Whatsapp (though I cannot find that just now). So that would make 6.If all 6 are in, we just need one more from York MC who is willing to fill a damp autumn weekend with some interesting and fun stuff which just might be oh so useful one time.
Can we make the final move ?

SpectatorNo problem with that ! I don’t think we have ever (since 2008) had the course as early as September.
My usual process is to canvas for sufficient interested names (roll up ! Roll up !!) and when we get there, we’ll have a Doodle Poll to find an autumn weekend to suit everyone.I will be away for 4 weeks in August/September on different trips, so with the instructor on stand-by, I look for names in midsummer to set the thing up.
It’s a practical and informal instruction course which doesn’t make any big demands or require previous experience, but which could be of inestimable value.

SpectatorThanks Ewart.
Can we get a few more names please to make the course viable for 2023 ?
Its an interesting and fun weekend in late autumn when you’re not missing much outdoors anyway, and cracking value for money.Seven or eight serious situations over the years have shown that up-to-date knowledge of this should be in the skill set just like map reading or belaying (tho less used !!). But we need to assess, this month, whether enough people are willing, in order to set a course up for autumn.

SpectatorI hope to make Brimham (tho busy at weekend). But where to go after??
I started a thread (too late) last summer on this last great climbing problem (q.v. https://www.yorkmc.org.uk/topic/the-last-great-climbing-problem/) which generated a few ideas…..

SpectatorJust a reminder that now is the time to be getting some names together if we want an Outdoor First Aid course in the autumn. There can be very few opportunities to get this ML-level Certificate for a roughly half price cost of around £75.
Unfortunately, stuff does happen, and has happened. Members have learnt/refreshed on what to do in most of the last 15 years, and I think everyone who’s done it has enjoyed the courses.
