Just a reminder that now is the time to be getting some names together if we want an Outdoor First Aid course in the autumn. There can be very few opportunities to get this ML-level Certificate for a roughly half price cost of around £75.
Unfortunately, stuff does happen, and has happened. Members have learnt/refreshed on what to do in most of the last 15 years, and I think everyone who’s done it has enjoyed the courses.

So unless the forecast changes, we are looking to the east side of the Dales, so as to be in the lee of the Pennine watershed and least affected by low cloud from the west.

Calver Hill in Swaledale is described as “A superb high level walk above Arkengarthdale following Fremington Edge before crossing the valley for a return to Reeth via Calver Hill.” and at 10 miles and 2000 ft ascent this may well fit the bill.

It is only 487 m elevation, so it ought to be clear of low cloud and not so windy as the higher tops. Anyway it’ll be an interesting change from Ribblesdale or Buckden Pike etc.
