    Ladies and Gents !!
    Rollup, Roll up.
This is just a quick reminder about next Tuesday 26th November.
    What ??
Well, the big red asterisk in your diaries is because of the York MC AGM in the Heworth Inn. We had a massive turn-out for the pizza night last week, will the AGM be equally popular ? I hope so.
Please buy your drink and be seated for a start at 7.30

    see you there

MOUNTAINEERS ! YOUR CLUB COMMITTEE NEEDS YOU. !

WHAT ? At the AGM on 26 November (Heworth Inn, 7.30) you need to fill 2 Committee positions. Andrew Mirelman has moved abroad and Linda is stepping down.

HOW MUCH BOTHER ? Not a lot. Three Committee meetings in a year, plus email discussions. One post is “Welfare Officer” and the other is to organise a couple of weekend events. Details can be discussed with any current Committee Member. (Linda, Penny, Phil, Nick, Steve M, John, Andrew)

WHO SHOULD DO THIS ? Any Member can put her/his name forward for election at the AGM. It’s a good thing if the Committee represents the spectrum of interests and ages across the Club.

WHY MAKE THE EFFORT ? We all benefit from being a Club. (Or else we wouldn’t join). A modest amount of organising just keeps the wheels rolling. Everybody should share this and take their turn at it.

SMALL PRINT. Nominations must be seconded by two other Members and must reach the Secretary Nick Outram by Tuesday 12 November. All the Committee will be up for re-election at the AGM so you can nominate for any post (Chair / Vice /Treasurer /Club Secretary / Membership Sec / Events 1 / Events 2 / Welfare) but you need in particular to fill the 2 vacant positions. Voting is by those Members present in person at the AGM. I plan to use a confidential voting system in any case of there being more than one nomination.

PHEW !! I’ve taken a liberty to send this out whilst our Secretary Nick Outram is away on holiday. (owing to timescales). Let’s give Nick a nice present of a couple of nominations for when he gets back. !!

    Hi all,
As usual with Highland weekends, there will be very little organisation on this, because we have no idea what the weather might be doing that weekend.
So for the moment I can say:-
    (1) if weather is good on 23-24 November we plan to bring the trip forward
    (2) Typically we leave York around 4pm on Friday and get back about 10 pm Sunday. Fuel cost might be £30 -£45 per person depending how far we drive and how many share a car
    (3) Destination is decided Wednesday once the weekend weather forecast is becoming clearer. We seek bunkhouse accommodation about £22 per night.
    (4) Activity is hillwalking with maybe a bit of scrambling if weather is settled. Not expecting much if any snow cover at this early stage. Choice of hills obvs weather-dependent, but both Paul and I might be seeking alternatives to Munros. (having done those)

More info later. Daniella, it might be nice to meet you in the pub for a chat one Thursday. (Not 24/11 as I’ll be on holiday). You can email me via Members List if needed
