The Ballachulish Winter Weekend trip is open for booking. The Alex Macintyre Memorial Hut is booked exclusively for York MC for a Friday arrival, the 14th of March 2025 and departing Sunday the 16th. There are 16 beds available and more information is available about the hut here https://www.mountaineering.scot/clubs/huts/national-huts/alex-macintyre . It may be possible for individuals to arrange an extension to this booking before or after the booked dates.
The cost for the weekend is £43 and includes a communal meal on Saturday evening. If you’re sleeping in a van it will count as a place in the hut. Do not pay any money at the moment.
There has already been a lot of interest and it is likely that the trip will be over subscribed. If numbers exceed availability I will aim to bias this trip towards members with more winter experience.
In case of excess demand and to avoid disappointment I may organise a second trip to Aviemore over the weekend of 21st to 23rd of February. This will be aimed at those unable to attend Ballachulish but will require a mix of experience. There may be a reserve list for both trips and individuals can also make their own accommodation arrangements.
Please let me know here on this post or by WhatsApp if you would like to have a place on the Ballachulish trip in March. Also indicate if you are available for the dates in February.
For newcomers to winter mountaineering there are many companies offering skills and climbing courses and discounted rates may be available if you mention that you’re with a club. Here are some links to a small selection of course providers to take a look at what’s on offer.

If you have any questions please get in touch. Please respond as soon as you can so I can construct the list of those going and the reserves by the first week in November and payments can then be made. The Aviemore weekend, if needed, will be resolved after that.
Cheers!

October 24, 2024 at 1:36 pm #19382Alex DickinsonSpectatorHi Dave,
I’d like to go on the March trip if possible please. I’m also available for the potential February dates. In case you need to assign places based on experience, I’m very inexperienced (having only been on last year’s Aviemore weekend), but am hoping to do a course at some point in February.
Cheers,
