    Hi,
I’m about to embark on the West Highland Way. Starting Monday morning and (all being well) ending on Sat evening. Back to York Sunday to pick up the kids.
I’m mostly wild camping (except where I can’t). Carrying my stuff.
Any tips welcome. Especially around how much food to take. I’m happy to stop and have a pub meal a night or two. I was thinking of taking meals for 3 nights.
    Thanks

Inverarnan pub (Stagger Inn) with the stuffed bear can be tolerable.

I am always banging on about how names in the landscape preserve ancient meanings. At Crianlarich the Rod and Reel has been known for decades as the Rotten Deal. Fortunately the Best Western Hotel is nearby though often full.

Then there’s the Tyndrum Inn which was alright last November.

I’ve eaten at Bridge of Orchy hotel too. And drank “Old Engine Oil” on draught.

And at Kinlochleven a gang of us stayed on the camp site last May which was OK. I remember eating at the Tail Race. Can’t recall whether we used a second establishment, maybe someone can ?

PS Going up the east side of Loch Lomond you will walk through the territory of Rob Roy, close to his home and his burial place. “A type of mountaineer not found in Scotland nowadays” in the words of that superlative Scottish mountaineer, Bill Murray. I cannot recommend highly enough, W H Murray’s book about Rob Roy, and it gives quite a lot of meaning to the area through which the walk passes. A
