All a bit weather dependent, Mr Carrier and I have a draft plan involving setting off a day (or even 2) earlier so we can have a warm-up in Borrowdale, or something… and having as look at Scafell (Moss Ghyll Grooves if we are feeling brave) or taking a look at Pikes Crag. There’s a couple of cracking routes on that side of Mickledoor.
Assuming we get phenomenal clear weather; and if my new bionic knee can stand up to any or all of this: a visit to Napes would seem like a good idea. I would echo Oli’s comments re the Needle. All the routes in that area are very polished and positively lethal when wet. But if the conditions are right, and I am fit enough, I would be up for a visit (and I know how to get off the top of the Needle safely).
If the weather decides to be awful, I can heartily recommend a stroll up to Pillar from Wasdale Head (never a disappointment). If the weather is truly awful then a visit to Brats Hill Stone circles (behind Illgill ) is a worthwhile objective. And of course, never forget that Nether Wasdale has sufficient hostelries to almost classify as a pub crawl venue.

    Hasty update 2:
Tracey is making independent arrangements to join us for climbing during the days and Wes “John Halfacre” will be under canvas, but travelling with us. That means both reserves are in and we’ve got one vacancy. Thinking about who pays who makes my brain hurt so we’ll sort it out after the trip.
    1 Vacancy
    2 Dave C
    3 Sam
    4 Lucas
    5 Jenny
    6 Lucy
    7 Me
    8 Emma W
    9 Matt D
    10 Rose
    11 Dan S
    12 Oli T
    12.9 Dave M
    14 Ewart
    Camping Wes
    Commuting Tracey + 1

Thanks everyone who’s got in touch so far on the forum or elsewhere to share info and help make the weekend marvellous.

    Hi Oli,

Thanks for the updates. Unfortunately I won’t be able to make this trip after all šŸ™

Hope someone else can take my spot.

    Hi

I have already been in touch with Oli B, I’d be looking to leave York on Friday (happy to book the day off) and to be back in York Sunday evening.

As for aspirations, Dave M helped me with the options yesterday. I would be happy to do some easy climbing in Pikes Crag (albeit I have limited outdoor climbing experience) and would be open for a long hike/scramble in Pillar Rock.

Happy to discuss over a drink next Knavesmire day.
    Cheers
    Dan

    Hi all

Thanks very much for organising Oli.

Shall we bring a load of veg for the saturday meal?

I am happy to drive. Will leave York Friday eve and return sunday eve.
3 spots with room for kit.

I’d also be up for Pikes Crag and easier routes. I have lead up to HVD but only single pitch.
I’m more up for seconding than I am leading but I’d be up for leading any single pitch easy climbs (have just bought the guide book so can see how much single pitch is available – its not dead obvious looking at ukc online unless I’m missing something).
    I’m also up for scrambling

I’ll aim to get to a meet soon to discuss more

    Thanks

    Rose
