Hi everyone,
I’ve block booked 16 beds at Glan Dena which is a hut that belongs to another club I’m involved with.
It’s at the foot of Tryfan North ridge in the Ogwen Valley, Wales. It’s about a three hour drive from York and the nearest station is Bangor. The booking is from Friday evening (27th May) until Sunday (29th May) so that gives two full days in the hills.
There are good weather options for walking, scrambling, climbing and swimming options from the door. It’s a particularly good location for easy trad climbing and the Welsh 3000ers. Bad weather options include low level walks, running, ghyll scrambling, indoor mountaineering and Lockwood’s Chimney. The trip will run unless there’s a severe weather warning.
I’ll sort communal vegetarian food on Saturday night and I’m going to ask for £7 each to cover that. Bring your own breakfast, booze, hill snacks and steaks.
Hut fees are £14/night and for that you get a bunk bed in rooms of 4 (bring a light sleeping bag and ear plugs), a log fire, hot water and all the propane you can eat.
That’s £35 in total.
If there’s any leftover money from the meal or unreplaced cancellations it will return to the club.
Post your expressions of interest here please, so I can work out how to divvy up the spaces.
