The weather looks like it is playing ball. The plan for Monday is to have an enjoyable and safe day based at the Wainstones, climbing, walking and picnicking at a pace and time that suits. I aim to be at the crag by 10am.
My wife, Anna and daughter, Nicola will be with me but are intending to go walking on a random local route and return to the Wainstones by about 2pm. Anna and Nicola are happy for anyone else to join with them. I will remain at the crag to climb all day and expect to leave for home at about 4pm.
There are a lot of easier grade routes at the Wainstones and some are in the region of 6 metres so it is an ideal place to get comfortable on the rock, even for the first time. I will have a rope, rack and guidebook and hopefully others will have too. Although being mindful of covid protocol it is usual that people are willing to share equipment and climbing routes to make sure that all participants are fully involved in activity.
On the day I will be wearing a YMC tee-shirt to be identifiable and lots of sun cream because the Wainstones is a proper sun trap. Make sure you bring plenty of protection and drink for the day. Also, please let us know if you are coming. Either here or on Whatsapp.
Cheers, Dave.
