Hi everyone. Please see below post from a charity working with refugees in Calais. There is a van leaving from York regularly that we can load up with the below items. If you can donate any of them me and Andrew will collect and take to the coordinator-either next Tuesday or Thursday at the usual meet ups. My number is 07946357770 if you want to drop stuff off at another time. Thanks!!
in the last two days the weather has deteriorated dramatically across Northern France. Last night it snowed heavily – and today we met a number of people soaking wet and desperately trying to dry their footwear in front of their fires.
Rain is forecast every day for the next week and there are still many refugees who don’t have winter coats or proper shoes. We have started extra distributions to keep people warm but urgently require more supplies. We are appealing for the following:
* Volunteers to do additional distributions including trips to Paris and Caen
* Thermals – especially long johns
* Joggers (can be worn under jeans)
* Ski gear (coats and trousers)
* Waterproof trousers
* Bivvy bags to help sleeping bags retain heat
* Gloves, socks, hats and scarves
* Small tents and warm sleeping bags
* Coffee, sugar and hot chocolate to take out every day
* Funds to buy emergency supplies of all the abovePlease donate now: https://goo.gl/jmkx7A

I’ll bring some donations to Harrogate Wall next Thursday and like Rhianna, I’m also happy to coordinate drop-off at other times.
Cheers,
AndrewJanuary 26, 2019 at 9:32 am #11882AndrewSpectatorRhianna, your appeal has been more effective than the entreaties of my wife, in getting me to look hard at stuff I’ve kept for years “just in case” I would maybe need to lend it out. I’ll have a box of goretex jackets, trousers etc on Thursday
ANDREW EJanuary 26, 2019 at 11:45 am #11883Matthew DSpectatorSnap!
I similarly have a hoard of old kit (plus quite a few items I have found along the way that in all honesty wont ever be used by me… ) Will have a thorough clear-out in advance of Thursday.
