Traffic disruption Gillygate area

Gillygate is now closed to traffic for the next 3 weeks while Yorkshire Water do some maintenance work.
Today was the first day of closure and at 5pm this evening traffic was queueing back the entire lengths of both Lowther Street and Penlys Grove Street/Townend Street (the one-way cut-throughs between Foss Island roundabout and York Hospital.
If driving, avoid the area like the plague for at least the next week while the traffic sorts itself out.
