In case anyone has had their antennae switched off these last couple of weeks, Giant Hogweed has hit the headlines.

Recent casualties include a boy in North Wales and two children hurt in separate incidents in Country parks run by local Councils in Manchester and Bolton.
We are used to assuming that no plant life in Britain can do us much harm unless we eat it. However the science fiction “Triffids” of my youth have now appeared as a serious hazard. If you Google “giant hogweed” you can find pictures of what to keep clear of, as well as some awful pictures of what happens if you don’t.
