Hi all,
I have recently received an email, attached below, from Jack Paton at the Ben Lairig, University of York Mountaineering Club. They are hosting a charity fundraiser lecture next Thursday, the 16th Feb. Cost is £2 donation paid on the door. Should be an interesting event. If you intend to go please let others know and make a social event of it.
Cheers, Dave M
Hi there,
I’m writing on behalf of Ben Lairig Mountaineering Club from the University of York. Next Thursday, 16th February 23, we are hosting an evening lecture from one of our members, Bob Tsang. Bob summited Everest at 18, the youngest ever from Hong Kong, and has climbed the highest peaks on six continents (only Antarctica is left!). The event is to raise money for our society and for mountain rescue charities. There will also be a bake sale with sweet treats made by our members.
I was wondering whether you could promote this event within your club? Everyone is more than welcome at the event and it would be great to get to know some more York-based mountaineers! Doors will open at 19:30 and we ask for a minimum donation on the door of £2.
In terms of practicalities, the event will occur in the School of Physics and Technology Building on University of York Campus West. The best place for parking is Campus South Car Park and then it is less than a minute to walk to the building attached to the large tower, you can’t miss it. The talk is taking place in lecture theatre P/L/001, some of us will be wandering around to make sure people know where to go.
Looking forward to hearing back and hopefully meeting some of you next week!
Jack Paton
