The weather is unsettled again so plans are likely to be made or changed short notice.
Tuesday will be the Red Goat and I’ll be there at about 5pm, whatever the weather. Pizza too.
Thursday is looking doubtful for outside climbing so anticipate Harrogate indoor wall and if the sun shines we could opt for outdoors at Almscliff. I may be there but will have to confirm later in the week.
I am heading up to Scotland for the weekend with Dolly and friend Keith. Aiming to bag a load of Munros on the South Glenshiel Ridge as well as others. We’re closely monitoring the weather forecast.
There’s a loosly planned mountaineering trip to Pillar this weekend and several club members are intending to head across to the Lakes. There is a forum post about the weekend.
I will take this opportunity to further encourage all club members to consider joining the First Aid Course to be run later this year or early next year. Andrew is working hard to find sufficient numbers for this winter’s course and to find a mutually convenient date for those wishing to attend. The course delivers a whole load of current, practical information, there is no exam and has always been a rewarding and fun couple of days. The course qualification is valid for three years and is an essential requirement for certain mountain leader or outdoor activity organisers and the personal benefits after refreshing such knowledge could prove immeasurable. The more club members attending, the cheaper the cost to the individual. The normal rate to attend an externally provided course is approximately £150. We initally charge £100 but usually can get the price down to £75 per person. Our course is capped at 12 places. Please check out the forum post and get in touch if you would like to attend or find out more about the course.
So far this year the club has been incredibly active so please keep posting your ideas and suggestions for activities here or on WhatsApp. Right now it’s the school summer holidays and you may be able to find a climbing or walking partner at short notice. It might be easier if the weather would play ball!
Cheers!

July 27, 2023 at 11:06 am #17145Dave MModeratorThe weather’s set to improve this afternoon. I think, however, that the local crags will be damp and the ground will be wet after the recent rain. Probably best to stay indoors at Harrogate Wall.
I’m not going to be climbing today since I’m optimistically heading to Scotland in the morning. Please post on WhatsApp or here if you’re hoping to climb anywhere today or over the weekend.
Also note that Harrogate Wall are holding an open climbing competition day on the 3rd of September. The email is attached below.
Cheers!
