So Dolly and I have worked out a free weekend before we each go away in September. We are aiming to head north on Friday 18th August and return in the evening of Monday 21st. As always, we’ll stay very flexible until we can see what the Weather Clerk has in mind.
I like scrambling in the West Highlands, Dolly wants to add to her Munro count; bothy nights are usually fun.
Anyone else interested in Highlands Weather Roulette please let me know

As mentioned in the pub last night, I’m potentially interested in a trip to Scotland that weekend too, if the weather’s good. I’d be happy to do some scrambling, but if anyone wanted to do a multi-pitch route with me (probably on the Saturday), ideally something like the Long Climb on the Ben, or Wither Whether & Whether Wall on the Cobbler, that would be great too. I think I’d have to come home on the Sunday afternoon/evening as I’ll be working Monday.

Andrew and Mike, I’d be up for joining on a trip up to Scotland that weekend. Happy to scramble or second up some multi-pitch. I should also be at the pub this week for planning.

So after a couple of conversations last night, there are half a dozen potential names in the frame to join Dolly and myself next weekend, although no doubt fate and other temptations will whittle these down.
This is just to say that as usual, the time for a decision will be Wednesday afternoon once the MWIS forecast shows us the picture up to Saturday, and at that point we’ll try to book bunkhouse spaces.
.I cannot leave before Friday afternoon, but if weather is fair Dolly and I intend to have Monday on the hill and return Monday night.
I’ll not be around next Thursday as I’ll be at a wedding instead.

Looking at the latest weather forecast, it seems unlikely that Scotland will be worth the trip. It could still change, but I wouldn’t bet on it… There may be one decent day of weather closer to home though, so as a plan B would anyone be interested in some cragging in the dales or peak?
