Hi
Following an incident at the wall last week and with the Winter Weekend, Walks planned, outdoor climbing about to start and a trip to Wales in the diary I thought it would be timely to remind everyone about parts of the constitution and the BMC advice regarding risk, responsibility and participation. The following link takes you to the Club constitution which includes the BMCs participation statement.
YORK MC CONSTITUTION
Alternatively go to the main page and find it under “ABOUT YMC”
For more detailed advice the BMC has produced some guidance.

The best summary is at the top of page 4 in the boxes.
To sum up, we are a club that offers a supportive environment for the development of our sport. There is a duty of care which those who help by passing on knowledge and organizing events or leading activities accept voluntarily and willingly. But the over-riding responsibility is with each of us as individuals for our own participation and actions.
In the Club Committee last night we had a good debate about the above, in particular about individual responsibility and inclusivity. We will be coming out soon with some suggested amendments – for comment – to the constitution to ensure that we can exercise our duty of care for all members and prospective members, reinforce individual responsibility and also be the welcoming and inclusive club that we are.
Best Wishes
John
