The Chairman won’t be doing a walk on Boxing Day ‘cos he’s had his foot done. Good news, and I hope to see him on the hill in 2015. At the AGM, an alternative date of Sunday 4th January was suggested for a stroll….. and somehow the minutes had my initials against the item. So here’s a suggestion not too far from home, very similar in length and height to last year, and with a pub half way round.
Meet at Kettlewell (car park just after the bridge) at 9.45 to depart at 10.00.
Across the bridge and up the path onto Old Cote Moor. Along the top to Firth Fell trig point, and drop down right towards Buckden. 8.5 km and 400 m ascent.
It is not strictly necessary to enter the pub at Buckden, but whether you do or not, the very pleasant return to Kettlewell via the Dales Way is just over 6km so leaving the pub anytime before 2.25 should get you back in daylight.
Obviuosly participation may depend on climatic conditions elsewhere. We’ll see, but have a jolly time meanwhile
