Hello Everyone,
There are lots of nice things planned during 2019. To make it easier to keep track of everything, we have made an Events Calendar.
The Home page of our website has been tweaked a little, so that the Events Calendar is a handy tab just to the right of “Home”
https://www.yorkmc.org.uk/events-calendar/The new page has a narrative section which outlines certain proposed events (such as the First Aid Course) where an exact date has not so far been fixed. Then there is a Google Calendar of scheduled events. So far, there are 14 separate items ranging from back-packing in the Highlands to our much-vaunted AGM and Christmas party. Click on any item to open it up, and you can get a link back to the Forum Post for full details and updates. Thirdly, there’s another Calendar for the regular weekly climbing sessions. (The new page has absorbed the former “Meets” page.)
Those who wish, should be able to add the two York MC calendars to their own calendar apps on their phones/computers so that York MC events will just appear and automatically get updated in their own calendars without them having to do anything. They can then easily copy events to their own calendars if they are going on a specific trip for example. This should be easy for people with Android phone and a Google calendar. The status of iPhones is still to be confirmed.
There will always, I hope, be spontaneous outings in addition to the Calendar….. such as Saturday’s very pleasant group walk over Whernside.
But if you are thinking of a future trip which you would like to share, please do post it on the Forum and also ask Nick Outram to add your event into the Events Calendar Page. I hope the new page will make it easier for us all to rapidly absorb the whole spectrum of what’s going on.CREDITS to Nick as the originator of this little scheme, and (as always) to Phil Harrison for coercing the website into obedience.
Finally, I’m gonna finish with a plug for the Lake District weekend in April. Our next “residential experience” after the Newtonmore event in March

A great trip to go on because:-
There is a range of things to do whatever the weather
Anyway the cost per night is only the same as 3 pints
You can get there easily and park outside
You can just do one night for £10 if you want
It’s a nice snug hut with a cosy hot stove.
A jolly time can be had by allANDREW ECCLES

Cheers
Phil
