Hi folks, I’m pondering going out to the Lakes one day this weekend for a raid on something like Striding Edge on Helvellyn. It looks like there’s a chance of some wintry conditions, so it’d be best to have winter walking kit and skills. Is anyone up for it? The plan would be to make an alpine start and go for a single day from York, but happy to try staying over one night (camping, bothy) too.
Half a dozen folks are now heading to the Lakes tomorrow (Saturday). This will be a non-technical day’s walking. (The Edges are reported to have only a sprinkling of snow and will not be in proper winter condition, but may be verglassed). So we are thinking of one of the circuits easily reached from the Penrith end : EG Hartsop / John Bells Banner /Kirkstone/ Scandale Pass . or St Sunday/Fairfield /Hartsop above Howe … or Braithwaite / Grisedale Pike / Crag Hill
Anyone else interested please shout up.
