This sounds like a very good idea, and also inexpensive. It is not always possible (or always fair) to interrupt a planned mountain day with too much instruction. But it’s not wise to be “upstairs” in winter unless you have practical experience of things like self-arrest, crampon work, axe technique, snowpack assessment, and erosion/deposition patterns. So learning your ‘Green Cross Code” so handily in the Lakes is an attractive plan.
