Hey all
I am currently looking into organising a trip to El Chorro in Malaga, Spain. This is one of the oldest sport climbing areas in Spain and the southern weather allows for quality limestone climbing even later in the year. Detailed info below:
https://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/destinations/el_chorro-1540
It is the first trip I organise and I am not particularly familiar with the area so I am considering reduced numbers – 8 people to be precise as this is the number of beds available in a room. I have found bunk bed accommodation with shared areas in a guest house called Olive Branch https://www.olivebranchelchorro.com/
Olive Branch guesthouse allows for walking access to the crags
Currently considering two options (either/or):
26th – 31st October
2nd – 7th November
Prices of accommodation in bunkbed are about €17 a night.
Flights are currently looking in the range of £200 return (Leeds and Manchester seem to have similar prices at the moment)
Car hire works around €70 per day and would need 2 cars – makes it around €90 per person for the trip.
A consideration about insurance, after a chat with Dave yesterday, I would expect all attendants to have individual rock climbing insurance. A quick quote from BMC returns £42 for the trip.
Altogether, the cost of the travel, logistics and accommodation seems to be in the £400-440 range. That does not include any expenses or extras in flights, airlines love to charge extras.
I have not booked anything yet, but I would like to know what sort of uptake a trip like this would have? Any interest?
Thanks
Dan
