Dear York Mountaineering Club Members
That exciting time of year is fast approaching when everyone spends too much and their diaries fill up faster than Santa’s Stockings! Here are two dates for your calendars:
1. AGM
As advised by Andrew in August, this will be at the Knavesmire, 19.30 Tuesday 20th November.Nominations are requested please for the Committee for 2019. (In particular, nominations of younger members would be very welcome).
At a recent meeting, 5 out of your Committee of 8 expressed willingness to serve next year and were nominated. These are Andrew, Matthew, Penny, Phil Harrison and Steve MurrayNominations please should be made to the Club Secretary Matthew Diggle by 6th
November with 2 Members as proposer and seconder for each nomination..2. Christmas Party & 70th Year Celebration – 19.30 Thursday 20th December.
With regards to the Christmas Party, we are hoping this year to celebrate previous years, old and new members and have a walk down memory lane – no doubt laugh at hair styles and fashion choices!! Anyone out there with photo’s from past trips and days out if you are willing to share these we would welcome as much input from you all as possible.
Looking forward to a good turn out from you all at both these important events.
Any questions do not hesitate to email me or speak to the committee.
Hope to see you all soon.
Best regards
Penny
November 2, 2018 at 11:52 am #11528AndrewSpectatorI’m posting to add to Penny’s paragraph about the Committee’s plan to have a rolling slideshow at the Christmas bash, aimed at reflecting the 70 years of York MC since 1948, and to invite contributions from everyone.
We have material available from 1988 to present, plus a small number of earlier photos.
As a benchmark, if we had 480 “slides” shown for 15 seconds each, that would run for 2 hours. Thus two cycles in the whole evening. But thats’ a lot of work to get together, so more likely it could be 360 pictures and 3 cycles. So for the 30 years from 1988, that would allow a MAXIMUM of 12 to 16 slides for each full year.
So if you have pictures of people or events which you think are of general interest, please get them to Matthew Diggle this month. It would be better if pictures could be captioned for the benefit of viewers. (as below).
Remembering, please, that we will try to balance the pictures across the years so not to swamp the show with an imbalance of shots from very recent years
Thanks All
ANDREW

Thanks
