The Kirk Theatre in Pickering is holding an evening of climbing films this Saturday evening if anyone is intersted.

    Tickets are £11

There are 3 films ranging in length from 25 minutes to 50 minutes.

The first film is about Alex Waterhouse and Billy Ridal; two recently retired competition climbers as they attempt to apply their indoor skills to real rock in the most extraordinary fashion. With almost no traditional climbing experience and barely a multi-pitch climb between them, the audacious duo set out to be the first Britons to make a free ascent of the world famous Nose on El Capitan, Yosemite.

I won’t tell you how they got on !

The second film follows Jesse Dufton (a blind climber) This season, Jesse’s ambition was set on a successful on-sight of an E3, choosing the infamous ‘El Matador’ rated 5.12d (E3/4) on the spellbinding Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, USA. What unfolds is one of the most remarkable feats of persistence and human endeavour you will ever witness.

The third film is about Freja who took a serious fall on the committing North Face of the Droites in the French Alps, resulting in a broken back. This film tell’s Freja’s story of rehabilitation and return to climbing.
